Recovery & Aftercare at a Tertiary Hospital
The patient-service aftercare resource of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital.
Written for the weeks after the operation
Part of a Tertiary Hospital
Chongqing West District Hospital is a modern tertiary general hospital in Chongqing. Its Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center opened in April 2026 and operates six coordinated service lines, including reconstructive surgery, aesthetic surgery, and laser- and energy-based procedures.
A Patient Service, Not a Sales Page
Nothing on this site is offered for sale. It describes the post-operative pathway as the centre's own clinicians explain it to their patients — what is expected, what would be unusual, what to do about it, and when to make contact instead of waiting.
Grounded in the Treatment Pathway
The guides follow the pathway a patient actually travels: discharge and the first 48 hours, wound care and dressings, drains and stitches, pain control, swelling and the timeline, activity and sleep, compression, returning to work, scar care, nutrition, follow-up, and warning signs.
Honest about recovery, and clear about when to act
Recovery raises more questions than any appointment has time to answer, and the internet answers most of them badly. These guides are written to the same standard we would want for our own families: plain language, no exaggeration in either direction, and a clear statement of what needs urgent attention.
Realistic
Recovery takes longer than most patients expect. Swelling can take months to settle, scars mature over twelve to eighteen months, and final results are judged at six to twelve months — not at the first dressing change.
Plain-Language
Anatomy, dressings, drains and medicines are explained by class and by purpose rather than by brand, in ordinary English, so that you can follow what is happening and take part in decisions about it.
Your Team Comes First
Every operation has its own instructions. Where anything here differs from what your own discharging team wrote down, theirs applies — and they are the people to ask. This site does not replace them.
Chongqing West District Hospital
Chongqing West District Hospital is a tertiary general hospital developed as a major healthcare project for Chongqing, with a planned capacity of up to 1,200 beds and more than 300 types of advanced medical equipment. More than 200 specialists with backgrounds at institutions affiliated with Army Medical University practice across more than 40 clinical departments, supported by nine major medical centres including the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center.
The hospital's culture, shaped by military medicine, emphasises discipline, rigour, and responsibility in clinical care. For a patient recovering from an operation, the practical advantage is that the resources a healing problem may need — anaesthesia, intensive care, imaging, pathology, and transfusion — are in the same building as the team that performed the surgery.
Questions about your recovery? Ask your own team
Recovery raises more questions than any appointment has time to answer. If something is worrying you — a dressing, a drain, pain, swelling, a scar, or a symptom you are not sure about — contact the team that treated you. The written instructions you were discharged with always take priority over general guidance, including everything on this page.
